Orissor Trust

The Orissor Trust is an educational trust.

It is entirely non-religious and non-political.

The object of the Trust is to promote the improvement of the overall quality of life by the application of the following ideals:

Self-responsibility with regard to health of mind and body.

The elimination of disease by natural means.

The encouragement of individual,  independent thought and ideas.

Respect of animal life.

Care of the Earth and environment.

The Trust promotes a way of life based on Common Sense and practicality. It shows how certain new and untraditional ways can be adopted to bring about:

GOOD PHYSICAL HEALTH:

by learning the cause and cure of disease

REAL PEACE OF MIND

by learning the correct use of thought

THE ABILITY TO COPE WITH LIFE

by understanding the true nature of Man

History

The Orissor organisation was started in 1974, through the inspiration of a lady called Dorothy Fosbrooke. Three like-minded families gave up their professions, sold all their possessions and moved to a large rented country house in Yorkshire.

Six years of full-time study and research followed and, under the guidance of Dorothy Fosbrooke, the Orissor philosophy and system of the prevention and cure of disease was developed.

The Orissor way of life, of good health of mind and body (considering the whole of life) was formulated and the results of that inspiration and research were publicised.

The organisation was officially formed as the ‘Orissor Trust’ in North Wales in 1980. A derelict 40-roomed former Workhouse was renovated, converted to a craft centre, offices and residences, and operated for ten years. As well as crafts we also engaged in alternative health counselling, publishing our own writings and postal courses on Thought and the Human Mind.

Meanwhile, in 1983, a smallholding was purchased on the Orkney island of Eday (Scotland). This has been used, not on a commercial basis, but for small-scale, non-animal, experimental organic farming - with a view to self-sufficiency in the long term (and bearing in mind the future demise of animal farming and the need for farmers to prepare now for diversification). Other small properties have also been purchased on the island, including an old croft-house and adjoining animal buildings, which have been completely gutted and converted to modern self-catering holiday chalets.

Health

The Orissor Trust teaches:

That everyone should be responsible for their own health, and that no-one needs to become ill if they care for their body and mind in a sensible and natural way.

That it is common sense to set about curing or preventing disease by removing the cause, not just treating the symptoms or results, or by removing the affected parts.

That it is only sensible to treat the body as one whole unit, which it is - body and mind working as one.

That the consuming of the flesh or produce of air-breathing animals, birds and insects is the cause of all disease, including Cancer. Fish flesh is harmless to the human body. Our publication Guaranteed Good Health explains.
